If i take the cowboys job ...most likely will....biggest need are to fix the OL mostly thru FA maybe in draft depends on what drops to my lap in the thrid and fourth round. If I get a quality LG in FA like the real boys did then I will trade Larry Allen for picks I am undecided about the WR position if there is not a great WR in FA then i am keeping Johnson although I will draft wr in second round since johnson and gleen are getting up there in age. On defense i will choice the best DL/LB player available at the #18 draft slot and use that person oposite of Ware. and I need to address the safety position to play oposite of williams. DT i not sure, Glover is a great DT but not in the 3-4 so maybe a trade for picks again if i do that then i will need a back up/tackle for the nickle and dime probalby through FA. and of course the dreaded kicker the boys would of been 11-5 or maybe even 12-4 last yr if they had a really good kicker.

week one
Here was my offers Dallas 2.4M for 2yr with a 32.60 salary cap Saints 6.6M for 2yr 31.87 Bills 5.8M for 3yrs 34.31 Texans 6.3M for 3yrs 28.34 Rams 11.1M for 3yrs 42.96
Now the Texans is an attractive offer and it is still coaching in the state of Texas, but boy if i just wanted money the Rams would be the place to go. But i am following my childhood dream and going with the cowboys. The meeting with the owner went well, we decided to keep the offense and defense strategy and he told me that he wanted to continue to rebuild the team make the playoffs, be in the top 8 for fewest sacks and pass yrd allowed, also the top 4 in redzone defense. Staff meeting fired my TE coach and kept the QB coach, every one else was under contract so I decided to keep them. Hired Gazaway for my new TE coach the rest of the week I added some offense and defense plays and also fixed the depth chart(they had Adams LT on the bench) more in week two later

week 3 meeting with the owner went pretty good he told me so far he likes the people I have resigned and agrees with the guys I had to let go. To my dismay I discovered that Adams LT, Glenn Wr, and Glenn CB are all holdouts. The agent took my pants and shirt in resigning Adams, but both Glenn signed easily enough. Staff Meeting We talked about scouting for the combine, my staff made some good recommendations all though most of the names they mention would be picked in the secound day of the draft so they left it to me to scout for the first day. I also spent some time developing three types of blitzes

week 4 Started with a bang the Bengals called and wanted to trade Braham C for Singleton LB, but I decided not to because i need big LB in my 3-4 and I got two slightly above average C already. But I did make three trades on Monday Allen LG and Rd 1 pick to the Cards for their 1,3,5 Rd pick Glover DT and 2Rd pick to Pack for 2, 4 Rd pick Nguyen and 3Rd pick to Seattle for 2Rd pick added through FA Turley RT 6.2M 3yr Simmons LB 8.3M 4yr
Week 5 KC called and offered Gonzalez TE for Ellis DE even though I have a great Te in Witten I could not pass up the opertunity to run two tight end sets with Gonzalez and witten.. who need TO lol did some scouting of players for the draft focus on WR
Week 6 Seahawks offered a trade Fisher DE for Adams LT I had to say no since Adams is my anchor on the left side Scouting mostly OL for the draft
Week 7 and 8 scouted players for the draft
Week 9 Signed Cochran DE to 6.17M 6yr Compton LG to 5.92M 4yrs
week 10 and 11 nothing much
week 12 starts the draft stay tune

The Draft Just before the draft jerry jones walked into my office and told me three key goals that we needed to accomplish in this draft. We needed to draft a QB, FS, and a RB, I just sat there and said ok but in the back of my mind I wonder what the heck he was thinking when he set the RB position as a goal. Oh well owners you cannot live with them but you cannot live without them. due to trading player for pick here is my pick positions R1P10, R2P37, R2P63, R3P82, R4P107, R4P114, R5P138, R5P146, R5P178, R6P180 I am not going to bore you with every pick for all the teams but I will do the top 10 then list everyone i picked 1 Texans Hawk LB 2 Saints Leinart QB 3 Ten Williams DE 4 Jets Davis TE 5 Packers Gocong LE 6 49ers Bunkley DT 7 Raiders Bush RB 8 Bills Allen FS 9 Lions Jackson WR lol that is funny 10 Dallas (Ari) Young QB signed him to 5.4M 5yr & 850k bonus and first goal with my other picks in order Sims LOLB 3.96M 3yrs & 540K bonus Dvoracek DT 3.76M 4yr & 400K bonus Addae FS 2.1M 3yr &300K bonus second goal Drew RB 1.65M 3yr & 180K bonus third goal and loved that he was still in the fourth round Wilson WR 2.03M 3yr & 150K bonus Fasano TE did not sign due to roster full Walker did not sign due to roster full Yaussi K 1.02M 3yr & 150K bonus yes the boys are still trying the cheap kickers Smith DE did not sign due to roster full

Training Camp Boy i tell you what training camp is hard on a coach you tell the guys over and over what to do and still it took up until the last day of training camp to get everyone ready and on the same page. I have made up my game card for my first preseason game against seattle but i only scripted 9 plays due to the fact that my starting unit is only going to be in for one or two drives the first game. next entry will be about preseason finnally i get to coach a game..lol the count so far is 17 hours spent in the game according to the game clock.

Well here I am my fist game as a head coach..even though it was preseason it felt like the superbowl. Not everything went off without a hitch though. The game plan that the OC and DC went over with me was lost so I had to call plays from what the computer gave me. My defense is something to worship though they held the seattle offense to 109 yrds and only 8% on third down. Thier "Great" QB threw 8 int 7 def knockdowns and had 5 sacks. Simmons was a great pick up for me he had 3 sacks 2 int with one being run back for a TD. My offense first team did great bledsoe had 129 yrds passing with a 132.8 QB rating and jones ran for 99yrds in the first half. Secound half belong to Young and Drew YOung had 3 int 60yrds passing with a 0.0 QB rating and drew ran for only 31 yrds. but at the end what matter is the score 38-0 dallas wins

second preseason game done against the Saints I went into the game unable to get my QB, and DL reading the same book with me, so it did not surprise me when we went into the locker room at halftime tied 3-3. My coaches keep on bugging me to put young in as starter but I am still scared of a rookie QB starting in this league, with that being said boy he lit up both the offense and defense players and the cowboys took over and ran all over the Saints. It all started with a 34 yrd run by Young for a 10-3 lead. Then my defense a few plays later created a safety and there it stayed until the fourth quarter when my DB took over and got 3 picks first and only turnover of the game. Final score 29-3 young 118.7 Rating 96yrds passing 1 TD with 2 TD runing in Bledsoe 59.7 72yrds passing0TD running jones 64 4.2 avg drew 28 3.5 avg barber 23 5.7 avg
cowboys offense 307 141run 166 pass saints offense 61 -1 run 62 pass def cowboys 4 sacks 3 int saints 1 sack

third preseason game another win 16-13 over the 49ers thanks to a int with 56 secs left on the clock offense stunk up the place if it was not for my defense i would be S.O.L. I think it is because i put the sec string in at the half because bledsoe had good numbers just no one else did.
