Hello Detroit. Let me introduce myself. I am Coach Karnaz. I have just been hired as the new Head Coach of the Detroit Lions. I grew up in Detroit and I look forward to being able to coach this team now. This is really, a dream come true. I know there are a lot of questions but first I will just give you a brief on a few things. Then next Tuesday night I will fill you guys in on some more information on how the team is looking. My style? If I decide to retain QB Joe Harrington here in Detroit then I will have to go to the Spread or the Vertical offense. I believe the spread will give us the best chance with any QB we have at this point. With Kevin Jones running how he is capable and Bryson as a 2 back we should be fine in this O. Also we have 3 young and talented WRÂ’s. Rogers will undoubtedly be our deep threat. The speedster this team needs. Roy Williams. Our guy that will go and just grab the ball for us anywhere. Mike Williams? Keep him in the slot and let him drill a few LBÂ’s over the middle.
Defense? The 4-3 and the 3-4 will be the styles I will be running. The rotation will look like this.
4-3
-------Kennedy----------------Holt
Bly--------------------------------------Bryant
Lehman--------MLB..?--------Bailey
Edwards--Rogers--Wilkinson--Hall
Keep in mind that I can easily rotate in the DT spots between Shaun Rogers, Dan Wilkinson(if I keep him), Shaun Cody, and Marcus Bell
3-4
-------Kennedy----------------Holt
Bly--------------------------------------Bryant
Edwards----Lehman–MLB?----Bailey
Cody------------Rogers----------Hall
I can also rotate the middle between Shaun Rogers, Marcus Bell, and Dan Wilkinson.
The MLB spot I will most likely not keep Earl Holmes around. He simply does not fit my system of D. I would like to dd a LB via FA or draft. Maybe Ernie Sims, AJ Hawk, Chad Greenway. Just to mention a few names.
I would also like to develop a QB in the later rounds. I am really looking at QB Bruce Gradkowski from the University of Toledo. I believe his amazing accuracy, decent arm strength, and mobility can make him a threat. But his height is a negative.
As far as Special Teams is concerned Nick Harris our Punter I am extremely happy with. But I will look into a kicker either FA or draft. Eddie Drummond I am considering re-signing, because I believe he is a huge threat still. But I am wondering if I can find someone that is a better fit that has some capability to play WR.
Draft/FA Needs:
- one more speedy LB, Lehman can move inside if needed
- FS needs an upgrade, Holt has been slow to develop
- secondary as a whole, particularly CB, lacks depth, address in the late rounds or FA
- We need a LG and RT for the O-line
- RB position could use some depth, 2 good HBs (don't overlook Bryson)and a great FB (Schlesinger is getting old though)
That is all for now. Any questions feel free to ask.
I wouldn't have did that if I were you, mod can move threads
