I will be looking to pick up a corner in the second round, if Ernie Sims and Leonard Pope are taken. If I do not get a corner in the 2nd round, I will pick one up in the third round.

after the third round I may not have any more picks if I was successful in trading up into the 2nd or 3rd round, but if I have other picks, I will be looking to draft a defensive tackle, an offensive guard, a MLB, and a punter.

With Coach Knox's first move as an NFL Head Coach, he fired his offensive, defensive, and qb coaches/coordinators. In the draft, he picked up Jason Allen, Vince Young, Claude Wroten, and Lonnie Scott. Then he traded Marc Bulger to the Bears for Lance Briggs. that's all for now... I don't think I'm going to finish this diary... I'd rather play the game!

After the draft, Tony Branch, the Rams' owner, informed me that our team's goals for the season were to win 8 games, and be in the top 8 in sacks, rushing yards allowed, rushing yards, and passing yards allowed. I agreed with him, and started editing my depth chart. I decided to start Claude Wroten at DT, because I felt that he could be a great player in the future. Also, newcomer Chris Fuama'tu became my starting fullback. With the depth chart all set, I was ready for the preseason. In our first preseason game against the Colts, my new and improved defense held Peyton Manning, Edgerrin James, and the rest of the Colts offense to a mere 75 total yards, sacking Peyton six times. I had a funny feeling that we would be a force to be reckoned with. By the end of the preseason, my Rams were 3-1, and rookie QB Vince Young had been lighting up the field, rushing for over 150 yards and throwing for over 200 in each game. I met with the owner, and he told me that he liked what he was seeing, and if I could get the Rams into the conference championship, I could borrow his yacht in the offseason. Sounds good to me! In the first regular season game, however, our offense couldn't move the ball down the field. Neither could our opponent's defense, though, so at the two minute warning in the fourth quarter, the score was tied 0-0. All of a sudden Steven Jackson shook off a few linebackers, juked a corner, and ran over a safety to score a touchdown, and I had my first career regular season win. Wow, what a great feeling! Our defense continued rolling on all cylinders, and by week 8, the Rams were 5-2. My defense had given up 9 points per game, and Vince Young was averaging 4 TD's per game. But when the second half of the season rolled around, my star defensive end Leonard Little broke his jaw, and I was forced with a dilemna- start the veteran Tyoka Jackson, or the amazingly skilled linebacker Lonnie Scott. I decided to go with Scott, who had never played a snap at defensive end. My decision paid off however, as in the next game, Lonnie had three sacks. The team continued to play well, and by the end of the regular season, we were 12-4, with home field advantage in the NFC. We steamed through the first three rounds of the playoffs and arrived at the Super Bowl. I was ecstatic! A rookie coach taking a team led by a rookie QB to the Super Bowl? To me, I thought it should be a soap opera on the Oxygen channel, but here I was, living the dream. In the Super Bowl against Coach of the Year Bill Belichick, Vince Young dominated, rushing for 280 yards and throwing for 300 yards, while Steven Jackson added 125 rushing yards. Our defense had 10 sacks, and forced 2 fumbles, while rookie Jason Allen intercepted 3 passes! By the end of the game, the final score was 42-3. Whoever voted for Belichick for Coach of the Year was sure doubting their decision! Wow, what a ride. Just when I was ready to take a break from all this football, the draft rolled around. I also had some job offers, but I was never leaving the Rams, my childhood favorites. I scoured the draft class looking for some gems, and found them, picking up CB Charles Faulk, who just happened to be Marshall Faulk's nephew, TE Paul Hudson, OLB Jamar Vickens, and DE Chris Wayne. I changed my defensive philosophy to 3-4, as I thought that we had the best linebackers in the entire NFL. Finally, after all that drafting, I was ready for a break. I had three months to rest until training camp. Boy, would those be a nice relief.
